Frances D. Bailey

With hearts both heavy in loss and full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we remember Frances D. Bailey, who departed this world on July 27, 2026 in Douglasville, Georgia. She was born on December 22, 1937, in Monticello, Florida and was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. John V. Triplett and Mrs. Frances Young Triplett, whose love and guidance shaped the woman she became.

Frances’s journey was one defined by elegance, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community. She was the embodiment of quiet grace—a woman whose softspoken nature exuded both compassion and a regal dignity. Those who knew her found in her a fierce protector and a steadfast servant of God. Even in the smallest, ordinary encounters, her conversations always ended with “Love You”.

Frances’s remarkable early years shone brightly with achievement. As a young woman, she was crowned Miss FAMU during her time at the Florida A&M University Highschool—a title that reflected not only her external beauty but also the inner grace.

She furthered her education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University. Her professional path led her into the noble calling of teaching, where she shaped countless young minds before embracing roles of significant responsibility as an Administrative Professional. Frances dedicated much of her career to serving others, including positions at the State of Georgia-Department of Corrections, and the legendary Spelman College.

Faith was at the center of Frances’s life. She was baptized at an early age and was an active member in her church community. In her spiritual journey, she was a member of New Mountain Top Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia where she served as a Deaconess guiding and nurturing her community with empathy and wisdom. Her giving heart also led her to serve as an usher at Fort McPherson Protestant Chapel, be an active member of the Officers’ Wives Club (OWC), volunteer for the American Red Cross, and, alongside her beloved husband Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert Samuel Bailey, volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta. No task was too small when it came to serving others; Frances viewed every opportunity as sacred.

Above all, Frances’s proudest accomplishments were not measured in titles or degrees but in the love she cultivated within her family. Her children and grandchildren were the true jewels of her life, her legacy living on most profoundly through their laughter, their kindness, and their achievements.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert Samuel Bailey; brother, Carl Dinkins; and sister, Josephine Dinkins.

She is survived by her son, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Brent Glenn Bailey, Sr. and his wife Rhonda; daughter, Ms. Brigitte Bailey; three grandchildren, Mr. Brent Glenn Bailey Jr., Mrs. Brittany Zierow and her husband Rolf, and Antony Hutchins and his wife Katie; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A service honoring Frances will be held at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia, on August 5, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 1:30 PM.
