Mrs. Frances Durham Lewis, 85, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at her home. She was born April 1, 1929 in Dallas, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Gilbert Thomas Durham, Sr. and the late Mrs. Bertie Taylor Durham. She was devoted to family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, and sewing. She worked in the tax preparation field. She had a heart for people and enjoyed volunteer work with the Telephone Pioneers, including the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lewis Gantt; and brothers, Gilbert Thomas Durham, Jr. and Royce Earle Durham; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Lindsay. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Lewis of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Michael Lay of Douglasville; son-in-law, Joe Gantt of Douglasville; grandson, Derek and Hitomi Gantt; granddaughters, Barbara and Patrick OâHalley and Courtney Lay; great grandson, Coleson Lay; two sisters, Dorothy Harper of Hiram and Lorene Campbell of Hampton; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Lamar and Elaine Lewis of Jackson and John Lindsay of Conyers; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Chaplain Kenneth Brown officiating.
