Mrs. Frances Harbuck McGinnis, 91, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice. She was born October 11, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, her family returned to Georgia and she was raised in the Kennesaw and Center Hill areas. She was a member of the West Fulton High School Class of 1943. After graduating, she began working at AllState and then Genuine Parts. In 1951, she began working at Pollock Paper Company in the lab as a Key Punch Operator, which at the time, was the first equipment of that type used. After retiring in 1971, she operated a small antique shop in Lithia Springs and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sweetwater Garden Club and the Lithia Springs Womanâs Club. She was a world traveler, traveling to Hawaii, China, Russia, Thailand, France, Japan, Australia, Egypt, the Holy Land, and many others. She was of the Episcopalian Faith, but later attended Union Grove Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Baird Harbuck; her husband, Thomas Edward McGinnis; two infant sons; and sister, Jane White. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Pat and Jack Clower of Douglasville, Jocelyn and Taylor Edwards of Douglasville, Tim and Brenda White of Marietta, Mona and Jim Searcy, Janice Alexander, Gary and Carole Jenkins, Mike Jenkins, Sharon and Danny Wilson, Larry and Michelle Jenkins; and several other nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; beloved cousin, Lucretia Ragsdale; and many other cousins. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, December 16, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Ken Hennesy officiating.
