Mr. Frank B. Burns, 81, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. A Douglas County native, he was born June 22, 1926 the son of the late Mr. William Alexander Burns and the late Mrs. Addie Lou Tate Burns. He married Mary Lamar November 21, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia. He served active duty United States Navy from 1943-1946 in the Pacific and he later served in the U.S. Navy Air Reserves for 35 years. He was a founding member of the Douglasville Church of Christ. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lamar Burns on August 29, 2001 and his brother, Howard Burns. He is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley Gazzola of Douglasville, Teresa and Doug Couch of Mableton, and Jenny Essien of Fayetteville; one son, William Burns of Douglasville; grandchildren, Dawn Gazzola, Alisa McCathern, Tracy Gazzola, Carrie Couch, Andrew Bones, and Jessi Bones; great-grandchildren, Ashley Boujan, John Moreno, Josh Kaplan, Andrew Einhorn, Erin McCathern. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 12 Noon from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Minister Alvis Miller and Ron Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow at Douglasville City Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Frank B.
