Fred Little

Mr. Joseph Fred Little, age 90, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born January 10, 1923 in Paulding County, Georgia the son of the late Rev. Joseph Oscar Little and the late Mrs. Bernice Elizabeth Bishop Little. Mr. Little served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer and retired from Avon where he worked on Spring Street in Atlanta since its opening. He also worked for the Douglas County Water Department. He owned and operated the Tiger Den Restaurant from 1969 to 1974. He served as a minister of the Gospel for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was an avid listener of Gospel music and Dr. Charles Stanley on Joy 93.3. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchild, Tabatha Rene’ Payton; and brother, Arlen Little. He is survived by three daughters, Fredda J. Drake of Douglasville, Amanda L. Kato of Inverness, FL and Diane Little of Cross City, FL; two sisters, Kate Eskew of Powder Springs and Dolores Elsner of Kennesaw; two brothers, Huelon Little of Douglasville and Olen Little of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Tony Thigpen, Michelle Strange, Susan Westling, Brandy Kato, Christopher Kato, Elizabeth Kato, and Sierra Kato; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony Thigpen, Jonathan Hollis, Jessica Lancaster, Kristen Lancaster, Zakkary Payton, Dustin Payton, Evan Westling, and Angel Koler; five great-great grandchildren, Toby Thigpen, Hailey Thigpen, Noah Thigpen, Savannah Vaughan, and Gabriel Koler; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The following will serve as pallbearers: Franklin Harmon, Jonathan Hollis, Chris Little, Greg Little, Tony Thigpen, and Chris Cato.
