Mr. Gary Merlin Gentry, age 74, of Carrollton, passed away, Monday, December 28, 2015. He was born June 24, 1941 in Carroll County the son of the late Mr. Kermit M. Gentry and the late Mrs. Doris Boatright Gentry. Mr. Gentry loved fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors gardening. He was a general contractor for 44 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Vanlandingham. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Mayfield Gentry of Carrollton; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Gentry Moore of Villa Rica, Angie Gentry Worthy and Johnny Worthy of Austell and Jane Vanlandingham of Carrollton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Ronald Holcomb of Carrollton, Joyce and Barry Kelsheimer of Carrollton, and Delores and Barry Hayes of Carrollton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Wanda Gentry of Alabama, Tony Gentry of Carrollton, and David and Bonnie Gentry of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Katie Worthy, Michael Worthy, Kevin and Ashley Carroll, and Tony and Jessica Carroll; five great grandchildren, Destiny Carroll, Hunter Carroll, Mason Moore, Jaxon Carroll, and Laina Carroll; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Powell Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
