Mr. Gary Lee Guthrie, age 52, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009. He was born July 8, 1956 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Harry Guthrie and the late Mrs. Lela Ann Vaughn Guthrie. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the I.B.E.W Local Union 613. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and classic cars. He loved music and playing the guitar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Wisner and brother, Glenn Guthrie. He is survived by his girlfriend, Leona Boone; his sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Ashley Guthrie of Villa Rica and Brandon Lee Guthrie of Marietta; brother, David Guthrie of Douglasville; brother-in-law, Ronnie Wisner of Winston; one grandson, Camden James Guthrie; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive; special friends, Johnny Banzhaf, Freddy Thomas, Rusty Albertson, Billy Dunn, David Crowder, Jimmy Foster, Eddie Lee, Chuck Johnson, Mike Robbins, Randy Chapman, Sandy Becker, Bill Becker, and Travis Land. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Thames officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Friday, May 8, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 333 ½ Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20003-1148 Messages of condolences to the family may be sent from www.jones-wynn.com.
