Gary Warner

Pastor Gary L. Warner of Douglasville, GA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 4, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. He was 65 years old. The son of Charles and Helen Warner of Cocoa, FL and Joseph and Jenia Lee McNair of Mobile, AL, Gary was a graduate of Cocoa High School Class of 1969. In 1970, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and remained steadfastly loyal to the Corps and demonstrated its values throughout his life. Gary's career in freight and logistics allowed him to travel the country, making friends with his unforgettable warmth and presence wherever he went. In the last decade of his life, he discovered a new passion and purpose, founding Legacy World Missions, feeding and educating thousands of orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda. A tender and devoted husband, he leaves his wife, Kathye Warner, of 16 years. Grieving also are his daughter, Angela Warner Mayfield and son-in-law Jonathan, also of Douglasville, daughter J. Kate Pigott and son-in-law Greg of Grand Rapids, MI, as well as sisters Sarah McNair Hughes of Gordon, AL and Effie Shaffer Rodriguez of Morgantown, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sister Maria McNair Davis and brothers Dep. Ray Warner, John McNair, Joseph McNair, Jr. and James McNair. For the extended circle of the many who loved him, Gary will be fondly remembered as a beloved uncle, brother in Christ, teammate, trusted mentor and dear friend. He will be deeply missed.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. In lieu of flowers, Gary's family asks that donations be made to Legacy World Missions (www.LegacyWorldMissions.org) so that his life's work may continue.
