Gene Hendrix, 84, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on September 23, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1941, the son of the late Jesse Raymond Hendrix and the late Dora Lee Hyatt Hendrix.
He was a beloved figure in his community and is remembered for both his professional achievements and his personal contributions.
Gene served his country honorably as an Air Force Veteran, dedicating eight years of his life to service, including a tour in Vietnam where he worked as an Aircraft Electrician. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life.
Gene had a distinguished career as an Industrial Electrician and was proud to be a part owner of the Industrial Electric Company of Georgia. His dedication to his craft and his commitment to excellence in the field of industrial electrical work earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
In addition to his professional life, Gene was a passionate member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians, where he shared his love for magic and performance art with others. His vibrant personality shone through in every interaction, bringing joy to those around him. Gene was also actively engaged at the Woodie Fite Senior Center, where he enjoyed participating in the Pinochle Club, building friendships and forging connections with fellow members.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Dora and Jesse Hendrix, his sisters Irene and Lorene, his brothers Virgil, Irvin, and his twin brother Jerry.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine (“Ernie”) Hendrix, his sisters-in-law Lula Hendrix and Jane B. Jackson, and various nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and his life will be celebrated privately.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, skill, and camaraderie that will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Gene's impact on his community and the lives he touched will not be forgotten.
