Mr. Gene Lafrance Miller, age 74, of Villa Rica, passed away, Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born October 17, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of the late Mr. Thaddeous R. Miller and the late Mrs. Emma Stejckal Miller. He was a graduate of University of Northern Iowa. Mr. Miller was drafted to serve in Vietnam as an Air Defense Specialist in the United States Army. A Commissioned Officer, he retired as Colonel after serving in Operation Desert Storm with 27 years of service. He received numerous medals and awards for valor and service throughout his military career. Mr. Miller was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes Football fan, loved NASCAR, yardwork, traveling in his RV, and his dog, Belle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thad Miller.He is survived by his wife, Linda Mary Seery Miller of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Joe Najar of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Carol Miller of New York; sister, Evelyn “Ev” Keller of Clarion, IA; brothers and sister-in-law, Arland Miller of Key West, Arlo and Carol Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA; five grandchildren, Jaimie Miller, Annie Miller, Topher Miller, Emily Najar and Natalie Najar; several nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
