Mrs. Geneva Viola Akins Milam, age 85, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born September 29, 1925 in Thomaston, Georgia the third child of the late Mr. William Rosier Akins and the late Viola Lady Shaw Akins. She was a graduating member of the Fulton County High School Class of 1943. She was of the Baptist Faith. She retired from Westinghouse after 33 ½ years of service as a secretary. During her career, she was known as âMs. Snitchâ and was publisher, editor and reporter for the Westinghouse âVoice of the Veteranâ Newsletter. After retirement she still published the âVoice of the Veteranâ newsletter and the âShaw Family Newsletterâ. She was proud of her family and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, D. Spencer Pruitt; second husband, Weyman Chesley Milam, who was a Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Inductee; son, David Spencer Pruitt, Jr.; and daughter, Melissa Ann Milam; sister, Gaynelle Mitchell and brother, Ralph Akins. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Morgan of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Sherry Milam of Carrollton; sister, Betty Akins Walters of Bon Secour, AL; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Brother Bill Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Snellville Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
