Mr. George F. Dyson, Sr., age 88, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Higgins General Hospital in Bremen. He was born May 25, 1921 the son of the late Mr. Grover Dyson and Mrs. Cleo Doss Dyson. He was retired from Rainwater Construction as superintendent for Commercial Construction for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in the European Theater. He was awarded two Purple Heart, Silver Star, and other distinguishing metals for his valor and courageous service during the Normandy Invasion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird hunting, and loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewel Shelnutt Dyson, and his son, David Dyson; and great-granddaughter, Jordan Mae Smith. He is survived by his wife, Inez Rutledge Dyson of Temple, 3 daughters and son-in-laws: Jolli and Rodney Weaver of Lithia Springs, Judy and Bob Riddell of Newnan, Joy and Bill Privett of Arab, AL; son, George Dyson, Jr. of Lithia Springs; sister, Annie McPherson of Clarkdale; Grandchildren, Laurie Smith, Lisa Vaught, Joey Riddell, Lauren and Erin Rutledge, Heather Hill, Shelley Knox, Brian Privett, Audrey Weaver, Ben Weaver, Josh Weaver, Amanda Upchurch, and Morgan Dyson, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. D. B. Shelnutt Jr. officiating. The internment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs.
