Gerald “Jerry” D. Harper, age 77, passed away after a brief illness Thursday, September 21, 2023. He was born February 21, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Ernest Albert Harper Sr. and Doris Isabelle Harper.
Jerry was an educator in Douglas County for 30 years, co-owner of Brides Belles and Beaus, and Harper’s Photography. He was a self-proclaimed “Jack of all trades and master of none.” Biking, flying drones, sailing, scuba diving, playing the guitar, ham radio, photography, looking at clouds, and spending time with family were the joys of his life. He lived part time on Logan Martin Lake and Panama City Beach, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Brook and Blair Harper, son James "Mason" Harper, brothers Ernie and Richard Harper, father-in-law and mother-in-law A.N. Holbrook Jr and Lois Holbrook.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Holbrook Harper; daughter Cali Harper of Douglasville; Jennifer (Kenny) Whitworth of Roswell; grandchildren Brayden and Avery Whitworth; sisters-in-law Marsha (Ron) Mann of Big Canoe, Georgia and Ann Harper of Cleveland, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at Jones Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Saturday, September 30th from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Please wear your best ParrotHead attire!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
