Gertrude Couch

Mrs. Gertrude “Trudy” K. Couch, age 99, of Villa Rica, passed away, Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born April 13, 1918 in Rhea County, TN the daughter of the late Mr. James E. Kelley and the late Mrs. Ida Kelley. Trudy moved to Villa Rica in 1986 from Chattanooga, TN. She was a member of Signal Hill Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 25 years, where she directed Sunday school, was a treasurer and choir member. Trudy was executive secretary of Felix E. Miller, President of Miller Brothers Company for 25 years. She was President of MBC employee’s credit union for 10 years, past President of Chattanooga Business and Professional Women’s Club and past President of East Tennessee Three Business and Professional Women’s Club. Trudy has been a member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica since 1986. She taught HHH Sunday School Class for several years and was a member of the adult choir and Gold choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Couch; brothers, James R. Kelley and Baxter Kelley; sisters, Geneva Hicks and Ruby Roberts.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, M. J. and Sandra Cartwright of Villa Rica; sister, Dixie Newell of Spring City, TN; brothers, Elbert Kelley of Soddy Daisy, TN and Rev. Donald Kelley of Soddy Daisy, TN; two grandchildren, M. J. and Stephanie Cartwright, III of Villa Rica, Timothy Cartwright of Gunnison, CO; one great grandchild, Chesnee Cartwright of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 3:30 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Williams officiating.
