Gladys Lavada Bishop

Mrs. Gladys Lavada Bishop, 94, of Pine Knoll Drive, Carrollton, Georgia, formerly of Rockmart Road, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Monday, December 26, 2005 at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehab Center in Carrollton, Georgia. She was born October 24, 1911, in Paulding County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Canup and the late Maggie Adair Canup. Mrs. Bishop was of the Baptist faith. She worked as an inspector at Jean’s Hosiery Mill and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bishop enjoyed flowers and quilting. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Otis Bishop, her sons, Charles Bishop, Monroe Bishop and Randy Bishop, son-in-law, Jack Goff, daughter-in-law, Frances Bishop, brother, David Canup, sisters, Mary Ward and Maggie Herron, and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Goff of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marcelle Bishop of Villa Rica; 8 grandchildren, Grady Bishop of Albertville, Scott Bishop of Carrollton, Pamela Maddox of Jackson, Angela Goff of Stone Mountain, Shelia Cottingham of Jackson, Tammy Clark of Douglasville, Anthony Bishop of Carrollton and Phil Bishop of Dallas; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Charles Kiker officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Anthony Bishop, Phil Bishop, Perry Clark, B. J. Maddox, Scott Bishop, Grady Bishop and Mark Herron. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Dallas, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Wednesday, December 28, 2005, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
