Glen W. Short, Jr., of Lithia Springs, GA, passed away March 24, 2024 at the age of 86. He was born in North Western, Ohio, West Unity on September 7, 1937, to the late Glen W. Short and the late Mary Greene Short. He graduated from Archbold High School, class of ‘55. After graduation he attended college briefly. In 1958 he left Ohio and went to Denver, Colorado to fulfill his requirement to serve his country. He spent 2 years in 1-W service at St. Lukes’ Hospital where he met and married Joyce Johnson, they had 3 children, Debbie, Glenda and Andrew. After his service, Glen moved his family to Alta Loma California to work at a ready to assemble furniture plant, Royal Creations where he was part owner. After 12 years there, he was asked to move to Villa Rica, Georgia to be plant superintendent. He then worked for Henderson Carbide and then Saber Diamond tool for 15 years until his retirement in October of 2009.

Glen was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Holloway S.S. Class. In some previous churches he was treasurer and S.S. teacher. He enjoyed camping, gardening and friends at the Woodie Fite Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen W. and Mary G. Short; older brother, Walter G. Short.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Delores Herr Weaver Short; children, Debbie Cox (Glenn Holbrook) of GA, Glenda Martillotti (Dan) of Texas, Andrew of Carrollton; step-children, Kay Gibbs (David) of Pennsylvania, Neil L. Weaver (Lisa) of Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren, Devin (Kevin Mags) Kaley, Anthony Martillotti, Cheyene (Zach) Bulford, Angela Martillotti and partner Audrey Locaille, Dale Layton, Stormie George; 4 step-grandchildren, Caleb Weaver (Alexis), Carissa Sneddon (Eben), Joshua and Claire Gibbs; 4 great-grandchildren, Farryn Kaley, Aubree and Zeke Bulford, Lillian George; sisters, Joyce (Don) Jones, Cheryl (Lowell) Eicher; brother, Dale (Arlene) Short; numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica.
