Glenn Huston

April 27, 1947 — October 5, 2013

Glenn Royce Huston, age 66, of Winston, Georgia passed away October 5, 2013 at his residence, after being diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2013. Glenn was born April 27, 1947, the eldest son of the late Royce Glenn Huston and the late Vivian Elizabeth Holbrook Huston. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2008 after 30 years of service. We will forever treasure Glenn’s time with us as a terrific husband, father, grandfather and brother, whose abiding love for his family was unconditional. He filled our lives with humor, even during his illness. Glenn excelled at woodworking and home improvement projects and his legacy of porches, decks, fences and pathways will be with us always. We will remember him with love and laughter for his magic tricks, his relentless practical jokes, his inability to remember names contrasted by his aptitude to remember the punch line of almost every humorous anecdote known to man, his ability to fix practically anything mechanical, his camera needing new batteries at crucial picture taking moments, his collection of Hawaiian shirts and his insistence that his daughters acquire the essential life skills of changing tires, checking oil, digging holes and pouring concrete. An avid supporter of youth sports, he coached girls’ softball and held volunteer leadership positions with sports programs in Douglas County. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Celia Huston, daughters - Wendy Kochis (Chris) of Oxford, GA, Stephanie “Nikki” Gaddis (Rodney) of Canton, GA, Kelly Huston (Joe Reed) of Woodstock, GA, Paige Huston (Daniel Miller) of Douglasville, GA and Kathryn Askew Smith (Alistair Smith) of Somerset, UK; his grandchildren - Christopher Martin (Kristin) of Santa Rosa, CA , Jacob Baggett of Canton, GA, Austin Hook and Savannah Kochis of Oxford, GA, Jake Askew Smith of Somerset, UK and Colton Miller and baby Nolan Miller of Douglasville, GA, brother William Howell Huston (Patsy) of Jackson, GA , sister Dolleen Lowe (Rocky) of McDonough and other dearly loved relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed also by his four-legged friends Digger and Satchel, both of whom guarded him faithfully during his illness. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00p.m. on October 9, 2013 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, 2189 Midway Road, Douglasville, Georgia 30135. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on October 10, 2013 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Pastor Bill Wininger officiating. Feel free to wear your Hawaiian shirt! In accordance with Glenn’s wishes, his body will be cremated and his ashes comingled with Celia’s at the time of her death. We are sincerely grateful for our extended family, neighbors and friends who supported us unconditionally during Glenn’s illness and for the skill and compassion of the dedicated professionals affiliated with Emory University Hospital and Tanner Hospice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Douglasville is in charge of arrangements. 770-942-2311
