Mrs. Glennis Ruth Clark Rakestraw, 97, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Benton House in Douglasville. She was born March 7, 1919 in Paulding County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. James Lewis Clark, Sr. and the late Mrs. Rosa Teel Clark. She worked as a secretary at the Life of Georgia Insurance Company for many years. She was a Proverbs 31 woman, devoting her life to her husband, children, and precious nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her family. She took great pride in the care of the home. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making quilts, cooking and woodworking. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed volunteering at church and for the schools. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester LaFell Rakestraw; son, Harry James Rakestraw; and brothers, James Lewis Clark, Jr. , Hoyt Clark, Aubrey Clark, Owen Clark, Jack Clark and Dean Clark. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Elliott of Powder Springs; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Monday, November 7, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. Marion Beaver and Dr. Bob Whitmire officiating. Providing eulogies will be Hugh Grimmer, Jason Rakestraw, and Monte Beaver. Musical selections will be provided by Marc Beaver, Sue Barnes, and Michelle Holt. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Rakestraw, Jeff Rakestraw, Jason Rakestraw, Adam Rakestraw, Clayton Rakestraw, Connor Rakestraw, Christian Dill, James Dill. Those desiring to do so may make contributions in memory of Mrs. Glennis Ruth Rakestraw, may be made to the First Baptist Church Lithia Springs, 3566 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Lithia Springs, Georgia 30122.
