Gloria Jean Ray Braswell, 78, a beloved wife, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1947, the daughter of the late Clovis Eugene Ray and the late Madeline Bragg Ray.
She was a devoted woman of faith and a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she faithfully served and found great joy in her church family. Gloria’s legacy of warmth, generosity, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Gloria was known for her meticulous nature and big heart. She was a devoted wife and the biggest supporter of her husband, Jerry. She consistently demonstrated her unwavering commitment to her family, often putting their needs above her own. She was known for her organization and attention to detail, but her true focus was always on family. Gloria also enjoyed line dancing and Hallmark movies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-four years Jerry Braswell.
She is survived by her cherished bonus daughters, Renee and Dale Choate of Grand Junction, Iowa, Rhonda and Mark Stewart of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Tabitha, Catie, AJ and Carter. and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless pride and joy. Gloria also leaves behind several special nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins, who loved her dearly and will always remember her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at Jones-Wynn Douglas Chapel on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Terry Marbut and Rev. Terry Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Garden of Memories
