Gloria Virginia Turner, 94, Of Villa Rica, Georgia, Passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026. She was born on July 3, 1932.
Gloria lived a life marked by energy, dedication, and deep devotion to the people and communities she loved. She served as first female President of the Lithia Springs Little League boys baseball, giving her time and leadership to a place that brought young people and families together. In Douglasville, Georgia, Gloria made history as the first Personnel Director for Douglas County serving for more than twenty years, a role that spoke to her capability, determination, and pioneering spirit, she also ran the campaign for United Way, reflecting her commitment to helping others and strengthening her community.
Beyond her public service and leadership, Gloria was a woman of lively interests and warm affections. She was an avid George Strait fan, found joy in shopping and in the charm of antiques, and, above all, loved and supported her family. That steady love was at the heart of her life and will remain one of her most enduring legacies.
Mrs. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lee Turner; parents, Lee and Elizabeth Little; son in law, J. Steve Buckler; grandson, Wesley Turner as well as several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Parham Deyton of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Nancy Buckler of John’s Creek, Georgia; son Scott (Mandy) Turner of Villa Rica, Georgia; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Jones-Wynn - Douglas Chapel, 2189 Midway Road, Douglasville, GA 30135. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Sunrise Gardens of Memories.
Baker Ballew, Carson Ballew, Brennan McMurrain, Everett McMurrain, Philip Brosseau, Parker Brosseau, Knox Brosseau, Jackson Brosseau, Ben Buckler, and Bo Deyton will serve as the pallbearers.
Gloria Virginia Turner will be remembered for her strength, her service, her enthusiasm for life, and the care she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will continue to live on in the community she helped shape and in the hearts of all who knew her.
