Mr. Guilliam “Gus” Seaborn Nixon, age 67, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital following an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1942 in Temple, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Clifford Hobson Nixon and the late Mrs. Lillian Gertrude Patterson Nixon. He married Linda Ann Troutt on August 19, 1961. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Nixon retired from General Motors Corporation where he had worked as an assembly line technician. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #34 in Atlanta and served in various offices during his tenure. He was a fan of NASCAR racing, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Falcons. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a devoted family man and a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather to his two granddaughters. Mr. Nixon was a member of the South Cobb Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ezra Nixon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Ann Nixon of Lithia Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beth Nixon of Villa Rica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Robie and Waymon Baskin of Carrollton, Martha Jane Nixon of Lithia Springs, and Sherry and Harold Castona of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold Edward and Margaret Nixon of Carrollton and Jerrell Wendell and Mildred Nixon of Carrollton; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Nixon and Madison Jane Nixon; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Minister Tommy Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
