Mr. Hampton Jackson âJackâ Daniell, 89, of Rome, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008. He was born September 30, 1918 in Villa Rica, Georgia the third child and only son of the late Mr. Franklin Jackson Daniell and the late Mrs. Mattie Lois Kinney Daniell. Mr. Daniell graduated from Villa Rica Public Schools in 1935 and from Georgia Tech in 1940. He was employed by Western Electric, Scripto, IBM and the Floyd County, Georgia School System. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Infantry, Heavy Weapons, 70th Division under General George Patton. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge at Wingen, Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was an avid camper, he and his wife and daughter had traveled to 48 states and most of the Canadian provinces. Also, an avid woodworker, he built much of the furniture in their house and numerous stools for gifts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorene Smith and Elizabeth Phillips; brothers-in-law, W.O. Smith and Charles Phillips and nephew, William Franklin Smith; sisters-in-law, Lottie Brown and her husband, John Brown, Nell Mitchell and her husband, Otis Mitchell, and Sue Hamrick; and by brothers-in-law, Ralph Prosser, Ted Hamrick and Calvin âBudâ Heath. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Hamrick Daniell, to whom he married August 17, 1940; daughter, Deanne Elizabeth Daniell; other survivors are nephew, John Smith and his wife, Helen Smith and their daughters, Debbie Rolowitz and her family and Elizabeth Smith; sisters-in-law, Hazel Prosser and Louise Heath; brothers-in-law, Bob Hamrick and Joe Hamrick; and very special family friend, Nan Hendricks. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, March 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica. The following will serve as pallbearers: Phil Kolodkin, Wes Murphey, Buddy Cash, Bill Griggs, John Smith and Sam Cash. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Middleton, Johnny Brown, Joe Hamrick, Bob Hamrick, David Prosser and Ray Brand. Military honors will be rendered by members of the Ft. McPherson Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Monday, March 24, 2008 from 12:30 PM until the funeral hour.
