Harold Russom Davis, 87, a lifelong resident of Paulding, was born on December 20, 1938, and passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. He was a man whose kindness, strength, and love for family touched all who had the privilege to know him.
Harold was the cherished husband of Marcella Fields Davis, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage, devotion, and enduring affection. Together, they built a life marked by warmth and steady support for one another. Harold’s legacy continues through his daughter, Joy Davis Holland, and son-in-law, Tommy Holland, who treasured his guidance and example throughout their lives.
As a father and grandfather, Harold, affectionately known as Pop was a nurturing and present figure. He found immense joy in the company of his grandchildren: Jennifer Holland, Justin Holland, and his wife Amanda Holland. Each of them benefitted from his wisdom, sense of humor, and sincerity. His life further blossomed with the addition of his great-granddaughters, Caroline Holland and Ava Lynn Holland, who brought him endless delight and whom he gently doted upon.
Harold was a very devoted Christian man who held many positions in the church. He taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Those who knew Harold will remember him atop his back porch, studying, gently rocking, absorbing the simple pleasures of nature and daily life. His appreciation for calm and contemplation was ever-present, whether he was recounting old family stories or watching over his cherished vegetable garden. Tending that garden was more than a pastime for Harold—it was an act of care and nurturing, reflecting the way he approached the relationships in his life.
Harold’s roots were strong and deep, sustained by the love of family that preceded him. He was the beloved son of late Clarence Clinton Davis and Flora Louetta Wheeler, both of whom passed before him but whose values and love were evident in Harold’s daily life. He also joins in peaceful rest his brothers, Albert Clinton Davis and Robert Davis, and his sister, Ovilene Partain. Their bond endures now in memory and in the stories shared among all who loved them.
A devoted family man, a gentle soul, and a steadfast friend, Harold left an indelible mark on his community and loved ones. His legacy is reflected not only in the family who survive him but also in the many whose lives he quietly touched through acts of generosity, humility, and patience.
Family and friends are invited to honor Harold’s life on Monday, July 13, 2026.
