Mr. Harold Douglas Hogan, age 84 of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Gantt, Alabama, the son of late Mr. Melvin Earl Hogan and the late Mrs. Opie Ree Huckaba Hogan. For the past year he had been residing in the Carrollton Nursing and Rehab facility in Carrollton. Douglas grew up in Niagara Falls, New York and, in 1951, at the age of 17, he joined the Navy and was stationed on the USS Rochester. He was involved in several battles of the Korean War while his ship was based on the shores of North Korea. He had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion for several years. Doug was preceded in death by his mother and father and his son, Robert Hogan as well as two sisters, Carol Anne Julian of Niagara Falls, New York, and Linda Anne Keown of Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his sister, Linda Grace Fronk; nephews, Victor Fronk III and wife Mona of Winston, Gregory M. Fronk and wife Jennifer of Gardendale, Alabama; granddaughter Amy; several nieces and nephews in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and New York also survive.
