Douglasville

Harold Emmette Parr, 81, of Douglasville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born on February 21, 1944, the son of the late Robert Chester Parr and the late Lucy Kate Queen Parr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert “Bob” Parr and David Parr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Harper Parr; daughter and son-in-law, Nannette and Merrill Folsom of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Cindy Parr of Olathe, KS; sisters and brother-in-law, Mildren Quinlan of Douglasville, Dee Turpin of Douglasville, and Diane and Tim King of Zebulon, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Marsha Parr of Villa Rica, Jimmy and Beth Parr of Douglasville, Phil and Lisa Parr of Vero Beach, FL, and Beth Parr of Clarksville, GA; six grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Grandaddy — Colton (Skye) Parr, Caitlyn Parr, Abbey Kate Folsom, Hammond Folsom, Parr Folsom, and Taylor Parr (Sara); a loving, sweet fur-baby named Honey; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold grew up in Winston, Georgia, and attended Winston Elementary School. He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1962. Harold worked at Ford Motor Company for 35 years, where he served as a supervisor. He loved to talk about his years at Ford and was known for his dedication to his work and the people alongside him. Over the years, he developed many lasting friendships that meant so much to him.

Harold loved Jesus, his devoted wife of 62 years, his family, and his friends. He accepted Christ early in life and faithfully lived out his faith through hard work, humility, and a servant’s heart. He participated in numerous mission trips, served many years as a deacon, and joyfully served in many other areas of his church. He also served as a youth leader, chaperoning countless youth trips and investing in the lives of young people. Harold loved farming and was happiest around cows, tractors, and open fields. He proudly served on the Farm Bureau Insurance Board of Directors for many years. He loved hunting and fishing and always found joy in helping and serving others. Even into his later years, he continued to serve monthly in the church nursery, cherishing every chance to care for the little ones.
