Harold Tyson

Rev. Harold Tyson, 80, of Timmons Circle, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 15, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1927 in Douglas County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Earnest Clifford Tyson and the late Mrs. Mary Ola Timmons Tyson. Rev. Tyson was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He was a member of Utopia Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia. Rev. Tyson was a bi-vocational minister. During his ministry he served at many local churches including Concord Baptist Church in Paulding County, Callie Harbin Baptist Church in Douglas County, Draketown Baptist Church in Haralson County, Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Buchanan and Fern Springs Baptist Church in Eldridge, Alabama. He worked for the State of Georgia as a material testing technician. In addition to his parents, Rev. Tyson was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Tyson and Leonard Tyson. Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Betty June Matthews Tyson of Villa Rica; his sisters, Estelle Campbell of Douglasville and Martha Phillips of Douglasville; his brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Bob and Joan Tyson of Villa Rica; sisters-in-law, Masako Tyson of Villa Rica and Ethyleen Tyson; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Chad Long and Rev. Bobby Smallwood officiating. Musical selections will be by Rev. Chad Long and the Utopia Baptist Church Choir under the direction of Frank Parr accompanied by Hilda Smith. The following nephews will serve as pallbearers Ted Tyson, Tony Tyson, Tim Tyson, David Phillips, Daniel Phillips, Jimmy Matthews, Steve Tyson and Phillip Tyson. Area Minister will serve as Honorary Escort. Interment will follow in Christus Garden of Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Friday, February 16, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
