Mr. Harvey William Banks, age 93, a loving father and grandfather, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born on June 4, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Harvey dedicated 33 years of his life to Delta Air Lines, where his professionalism and commitment earned him a place among the esteemed members of the Delta Pioneers Club. In addition to his distinguished career, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, an experience he cherished and spoke about with great pride.
Outside his professional life, Harvey was a family-oriented man with a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. His independence and playful spirit made him a joy to be around. He had a knack for bringing happiness to those around him, and his jokes often lightened the mood at gatherings. Harvey’s love for creating handmade gifts was particularly evident during the Christmas season when he participated in white elephant gift exchanges, always adding a personal touch.
Involved in his community and church, Harvey was a faithful member of the Lithia Springs United Methodist Church since 1969. His contributions to church activities were numerous, and his devotion did not stop there; he was also engaged in supporting local little league sports, further showcasing his commitment to nurturing youth in the community. Additionally, Harvey found joy in tending to his yard and perfecting his woodworking skills, creating beautiful pieces alongside his beloved clocks.
In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Brinkley Banks; sisters, Marian Darling and Aida Skidmore.
He is survived by his son, Craig Banks and wife Julie Banks; grandson, Trevor Banks; sister, Kay Maddox; as well as extended family and friends.
A committal service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Jim Moore officiating.
