Harvie Lewis Phillips Jr., 64, of Whitesburg, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. He was born on February 20,1962 in Petersburg Virigina, the son of the late Harvie Lewis Phillips Sr. and Sylvia Butler Phillips.
Throughout his life, Harvie was known for his generosity and his unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. A master gardener, he found joy and fulfillment in tending to gardens, nurturing both plants and friendships wherever he went. He also loved singing and was often found sharing laughter with those around him, delighting friends and family alike with his quick wit and irresistible jokes.
He will be remembered for his giving spirit and the warmth he brought into every room. His legacy is one of kindness, connection, and the simple joys of sharing time with others. Harvie leaves behind a community that cherishes fond memories of his humor, his songs, and the deep compassion that defined his life.
He is survived by his spouse Carl Young; mother Sylvia Butler Phillips; brothers Alan Phillips and Greg Phillips; sister Cheryl Phillips; grandchildren Samuel Pierce and Kaylen Pierce.
His presence will be greatly missed, but his gifts of laughter, care, and generosity will live on in all who knew him.
In accordance with Mr. Phillips wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
