Mrs. Helen Shelnutt Chambers, 72, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2015 from complications of cancer. A graduate of Southeast High School, Atlanta and Southern Business University, she worked for Georgia Power Company and retired from Douglas County as the first female Code Enforcement Officer, serving eleven years and having many fond memories of the Judicial System and the many people she interacted with. One of her greatest memories was of locating old classmates and reuniting with them who gave her much joy. Preceded by adopted parents Harvey and Vera Calhoun of Atlanta, nephew, Brandon McWilliams of Lawrenceville, Mother, Connie Hull, Atlanta, Ga., Sister, Faith Shelnutt, La Grange, Ga.She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53years, Albert L. Chambers of Douglasville, GA; sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryan Chambers, Douglasville and Keith and Lisa Chambers of Villa Rica; one grandson Mason Chambers, also of Villa Rica; Brothers Charles McWilliams of Buford, Lanier Shelnutt of Canton; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law, David and Cheryl Chambers of Marietta; four nephews; one niece; Special friends Glenda and Cecil Sanders of Lithia Springs, GA. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park in Villa Rica.
