Mrs. Helen McCord Ayers, 85, of Douglasville, Georgia, formerly of Villa Rica, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehab in Douglasville, Georgia. She was born November 8, 1921 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. William Thomas McCord and the late Mrs. Sara âSallyâ Couch McCord. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Johnny Melvin Ayers; her brothers, Rube McCord and Vernon âTopâ McCord; and her sisters, Gladys Aklins and Vernie Gay. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Clarence Proctor of Douglasville; her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Larry and Jane Ayers of Carrollton; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia with Pastor Doug Weaver and Pastor Damon Smith officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Kelly McCord and Scarla McCord. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia.
