Helen Pauline Smith Thornton

Mrs. Helen Pauline Smith Thornton, 78, of Cown Road, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia following an extended illness. She was born April 17, 1927, in Douglas County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Ollie Andrew Jackson Smith and the late Lena Odessa Pike Smith. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Callie Harbin Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husband, William Ralph Thornton; her daughter, Linda Shepherd; three grandchildren, Mike Meixner, Lewis Thornton and Debbie Lynn Thurber; four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Thurber of Temple, Joan and Junior Shepherd of Villa Rica, Connie and Ricky Dobson of Ball Ground and Shelie Thornton of Villa Rica; son, William Steve Thornton of Villa Rica; sister-in-law, Carolyn Tyson of Carrollton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 24, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Mr. Ricky Dobson and Rev. Wendell G. Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Christus at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Thursday, June 23, 2005, from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 PM and Friday, June 24, 2005 from 9:00AM until the funeral hour.
