Henry Arling League

December 16, 1923 — July 30, 2005

Mr. Henry Arling League, 81, of Country Park Dr. Douglasville was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Saturday, July 30, 2005. He was born December 16, 1923 the son of the late Mr. James Walter League and the late Mrs. Minnie Lee Hendrix League. Mr. League served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Clarice Hudson on May 27, 1946 in Carrollton, Georgia. He worked for MacDougald-Warren of Atlanta for 17 years before he retired from Local Union Operators Engineers #926 as an oiler for Heavy Equipment and Cranes. After his retirement he became the local ice cream man, where he enjoyed several years of making children and adults smile. In recent years he was a vendor at the Lithia Springs Flea Market, where he witnessed to people about Jesus and also sold Christian ties. He loved gospel music and was a simple man. Mr. League was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Britt Rd, Mableton, GA. He was a faithful member of the Adult Sunday School Class and The Saints on the Move Outreach. He was a native of Carrollton, GA., having made his home in the Mableton/Douglasville area in 1949. Mr. League will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Mr. League was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James Walter League and Mrs. Minnie Lee Hendrix of Carrollton, Georgia; three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clarice League of Douglasville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Preston Russell of Belvedere, South Carolina and Elaine and Chris Rogers of Douglasville; one brother, Royal League of Whitesburg, GA; two grandchildren, Angie Cody of Douglasville, Scott Goodson of Belvedere, South Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Laura Lee Cody, Tanner and Mercedes Goodson and a number of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 2:00 PM from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel with the Rev. Billy Lloyd and Rev. Dennis Reese. The following will serve as pallbearers: Frankie Kittles, Denver Kittles, Roger Kittles, David Urquilla, Kelly Robider and Scott Bates. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 1,2005 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel.
