Henry Clay Burns Henry Clay Burns, age 91, of Carrollton, Georgia, died of natural causes on Sunday, February 15, 2015. He was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on May 23, 1923, to the late Benjamin and Bertha Burns. Clay was one of eight children. Clay is survived by his sister, Rebecca Rhodes, his brother-in-law, Wallace (Skip) Rhodes Jr, and his sister-in-law, Alice Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Burns, Louis Burns, Marvin Burns, Wendell Burns, Foster Burns, Gale Burns and Wayne Burns. Clay grew up in Carroll County Georgia, working his parentâs farm along with his brothers and sister. On May 23, 1942, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses; from that point on his life was devoted to being a minister of the good news contained in the Bible. He was totally devoted to serving the Almighty God, Jehovah, and his only begotten son, Jesus Christ. Highlights of his ministry include graduating from the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead (a Christian missionary training school in South Lansing, New York) in February 1956. He went on to serve as a Christian missionary on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Dominica is located approximately half-way between Puerto Rico and the northern coast of South America. Clay had very fond memories of the years he spent in there. Clay endeavored to follow closely in the footsteps of Jesus Christ (1Peter 2:21). His primary objective in life was to share the Bible's wonderful teachings with others. Clay fervently hoped to live to see the day when God will cleanse the Earth of all wickedness. However, he knew that if he died before that time, Jesus has been given the power and privilege to bring the dead back to life in the coming resurrection. Clay loved the beauty and wonder of our Earth. He had an enduring zest for life. He lived simply and was always close to and in tune with Earth's beautiful creations. He longed for the promised day when the mild tempered ones would inherit the Earth and live forever upon it (Mathew 5:5, Psalm 37:29). Clay never married so had no children. But in the various congregations he was associated with, he has literally hundreds of spiritual brothers and sisters who loved him dearly. Sincere appreciation is expressed to the staff at Carrollton Club and Pine Knoll Nursing, for the care and kindness they bestowed upon Clay during his latter years. A memorial service will be held for Clay Burns on Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2:00pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 401 Almon Road, Carrollton, GA 30117.
