Mr. Henry Newton “Billy” Morris, age 86, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born December 25, 1931 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. John Paul Morris and the late Mrs. Georgia Carroll Morris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated his own typewriter business in the Atlanta area. He then went on to work as a typewriter repairman in Douglas County for 31 years. He was a mechanic for the Douglas County Board of Education Transportation Department, as well as at Atlanta Auto Auction. He enjoyed horses, horseback riding, and square dancing. He was a founding member of the Rebel Squares of Douglasville. He was a member of the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289 F & AM and he was a Shriner. He was a member of the Board of Registrars of Douglas County and the Beulah Ruritan Association. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings. He is survived by a son, Rick Morris of Douglasville; a daughter, Vicki Morris of Hiawassee; granddaughter, Lillie Joy Morris; the mother of his children, Mildred Morris Trevenen; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, February 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Bobby Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be provided by members of the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
