Herman Junior Hicks

Herman Junior Hicks, 80, of Villa Rica, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born on February 5, 1946, the son of the late Oko Hicks and Ola Cohran Hicks.

Throughout his 80 years, Herman built a life founded on devotion to his family and a talent for craftsmanship. He was well known for his work as a carpenter. Herman found joy in everyday moments. He enjoyed spending time in the yard and playing Bingo.

Family was at the heart of everything Herman did. He especially treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called him Papa. His love and kindness will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grand-daughter, Melissa Swafford; brothers, Jack Hicks and J.B. Hicks; sister Allene Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Hicks; daughters, Cheryl Swafford, Tammy Hicks both of Villa Rica; grand-daughter, Christyn Swafford of Temple; great-grandchildren, Genoah Swafford, Dylan Gay and Sierra Walker; brothers, MacArthur Hicks, Denford Hicks both of New Georgia; sister, Georgia Hicks of Mentone, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews

The family will have a memorial service on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with Pastor Billy Hicks officiating. An inurnment will follow at Melrose Gardens of Memories.
