Mrs. Hilda "Hydee" Socorro Merino Van Vleet, age 67, of Villa Rica, Georgia and formerly of Chino, California, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born June 27, 1954 in Whittier, California, the daughter of the late Mr. Gamaliel Merino and the late Mrs. Solidad De Los Rios Merino. Mrs. Van Vleet worked as an equipment maintenance technician for Verizon, breaking the gender bearer in a predominately male industry. She was Christian by faith and her favorite scripture was Song of Solomon 6:3 "I am my beloveds, and my beloved is mine." She was very active in her church and the church bookstore. She loved working at the church's food bank and attending the ladies bible study. She particularly loved hummingbirds and commented every time she saw one, "Thank you Lord." If she saw a penny lying on the ground, she always picked it up because it said In God We Trust. She made life better for those close to her. Mrs. Van Vleet doted on her children and grandchildren
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo Merino and her sister, Estella Gunnoe.
Mrs. Van Vleet is survived by her husband of over 43 years, Richard Van Vleet of Villa Rica; her daughters and son-in-law, Chandra Van Vleet of Whittier, California and Karli and Maurice Garcia of Chino, California; her sister, Edna Echeveste of Whittier, California and six grandchildren, Dayne, Aysa, Naya, Sophya, Edyn and Olyve.
In accordance with Mrs. Van Vleet's wishes, she will be cremated and a family-planned celebration of life gathering will be announced and take place at a later date.
