Horace Wilkes

Mr. Horace Eugene “Gene” Wilkes, 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. He was born April 13, 1927 in Etowah County, Alabama to James William and Eunice Victoria Chappell Wilkes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Cecil Wilkes and Kenneth “Red” Wilkes; 2 step-sons, Joe Thigpen and Ricky Thigpen; a sister, Martha Elizabeth and a brother, Robert Calvin. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Entrekin Wilkes of Douglasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Novie and Randy Seay of Griffin, Georgia; one son, Wayne Wilkes of Rockmart; one sister, Joann and one step-son, Ray and Shirley Thigpen of Douglasville, Georgia. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gene was retired from Atlanta Wire Works and Manheim Auto Auction. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Skidmore officiating.
