Hubert Jackson "Jack" Jones, Sr., age 81, known affectionately as "Dada" and “Beulah’s Corndog Man” passed away at his home on Friday, May 3, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Mr. Hubert Jesse Jones and the late Mrs. Maybell Newsome Jones.
He was a pillar of the community, dedicating himself to various organizations over the course of his life. Jack's impact was felt through his involvement with the Beulah Ruritan Club for over 20 years, his longstanding membership of 50 years with Masonic Lodge, and his commendable service of 30 years in the Fulton County/City of Atlanta Fire Department. Jack exhibited qualities of selflessness, bravery, and generosity from a young age. These traits defined his character throughout his life. His courageous acts in the Fire Department earned him the Medal of Valor from Governor Joe Frank Harris, a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving others. Upon Retirement, Jack went to work for his wife at The Trophy Den.
In addition to his illustrious career and altruistic nature, Jack proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier. His dedication to his military duties reflected his strong sense of duty and honor.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature. He touched countless lives through his acts of compassion, whether it was providing food, clothes, or simply being there for those in need. Many regarded him as a father figure; such was the extent of his care and love for those around him. Outside of his commitments, Jack found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing bingo, going to the casino, enjoyed cooking, spending time in the mountains and camping. Jack's proudest accomplishments centered around his family, military service, firefighting career, and involvement with the Masonic Lodge—a testament to his deep-rooted values of loyalty and service.
Jack leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Jones; sons, Jack (Lorrie Price) Jones Jr., and Doug (Thaedra) Jones; grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) Maryniak, Khris Mercadel, Brittany (Josh) Spencer, Brooke (Josh) Kennedy, Ashley (Jason) Gambon, Cody (Paige) Jones, Hannah (Alesha) Jones, and Hunter (Rachel) Jones; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Inez Harris, Jeanette Smith, Roy Jones, and Nancy (Eddie) Wood; brother-in-law Earl (Susie) Millirons; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved friends Donna Gant, Jenny, TJ and Lainey Anderson, Wanda and Lee Fuller, Sandy Stanger, Diane Bradford, Dottie and Joe Maiuro, Tony and Patty Gonzalez, as well as many others.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Dave Riley officiating.
