Hubert "Butch" Benjamin Prewett, 83, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away on January 8, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1942 in Dallas, Georgia to the late Eunice Mae Johnston Prewett and Fred Henry Prewett. He lived a life filled with generosity, faith, and selflessness. He lived out the great commission to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15.
Brother Prewett truly had a servant's heart - whether he was fishing with buddies or serving the Lord, he always wanted to help others. Mr. Prewett served in the United States Air Force. He and his wife served our Lord faithfully through missionary work. Together they built and started over 100 churches in the mission fields of Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Jamacia and Peru. One of his most cherished acts of service was his annual "toy run" up the Amazon River to the children of Peru.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Francine Eskins, Iris Ballard and Pat Gann; and brothers, Gerald Prewett, and Gary Prewett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Freida Whitaker Prewett; daughters, Paula L. Prewett of Lithia Springs and Kimberly (Charles) Stearns of Mableton; son, Tim (Erika) Prewett of Villa Rica; sisters, Glenda (Ronnie) Hurst of Powder Springs and Jane Bryant of Adairsville; brothers, Neil (Jackie) Prewett of Newborn and Dennis Prewett of Austell; four grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Jessica, Kristin, Walker, and Sawyer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
