Huey Wayne Conner, age 73, a beloved figure known for his generous spirit and infectious humor, passed away at his home on September 3, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Mr. Andrew Conner and the late Mrs. Pluma Smith Conner.
As the Vice President at Woodbury Tech, Huey made significant contributions to the company and created many enduring relationships throughout his career. With an Associates in Technology, he was equipped with the skills that he needed to empower others. He later retired as a mechanic from Cox Enterprises. Huey was known for his larger-than-life personality—an easygoing jokester with a good sense of humor, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger, and his love for life was evident in his passion for food, as he enjoyed feeding those around him.
In addition to his professional life, Huey embraced diverse interests. In his youth, he was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia. He coached youth baseball and he cherished the time spent playing golf with his brother-in-law, Raymond. He enjoyed participating in baseball with the Ruritan Club and he found joy in board games and puzzles. Huey's commitment to his family was one of his proudest accomplishments. He took great pride in sharing his journey through Ancestry. His loveable nature and commitment to nurturing family bonds will be remembered fondly by all.
In addition to his parents, Huey is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Marshall Morgan; nephews, Eddie Worthan and Rodney Latham.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Conner; daughters, Amy (Robert) Pollard and Georgia (Tyler) Crowe; sisters, Hazelteen Morgan, Patricia (Raymond) Worthan, Elaine (Johnny) Latham, Gail (Clyde) Defnall; brother-in-laws, Stephen Bowers, Emmett (Patty) Underwood Jr.; Nieces and nephews, Connie (David) Highnote, Jeffrey (Margie) Morgan, Amy Morgan, Scott (Jill) Worthan, Emily (Gary) Profit, Brian Defnall, Brad Defnall, Corbin (Avory) Bowers, Austin (Lynsie) Bowers, Morgan (Mitch) Murphy, Mallarie (Ashley) Henley Crews, Coletan (Brooke) Henley, Madison (Kody) Gay, Jordan Henley Gilbert; 30 great nieces and nephews; as well as 6 great-great nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Huey Conner was cremated. The family will receive friends at Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM with Dr. Jim Grieme officiating. A meal has also been prepared and will follow the service.
