Ida Beth Barnum Hicks Mrs. Ida Beth Barnum Hicks, age 73, of Waco, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Atlanta Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born July 31, 1937 in Oconee County, South Carolina the daughter of the late Mr. Cliff Barnum and the late Mrs. Nellie Ray Barnum. She was a member of the New Life Center in Tallapoosa where she was very involved in the ladies group. Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and devoted to her roles of wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk, the Haralson County Senior Center and she was a cancer survivor who enjoyed participating in the Relay for Life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, James Earl Hopkins, Sr. and Mary Jean Hicks Eason; brothers, Walter Carl Barnum and Tom Luther Barnum. She is survived by her husband, James Davis Hicks of Waco; daughter, Penny Hopkins of Temple; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Tammy Hopkins of Villa Rica; sister, Dorothy Lucille Barnes of Marietta; brother, John Barnum of West Union, SC; 8 grandchildren, Tammy Rhinehart, Scott Hopkins, Jamie Hopkins Stamps, Lori and Wesley Miller, Suzanne Hopkins, James Hopkins, Jr. Josh Hicks, and Jessica Washington; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Ronnie Brooks officiating and her son, Carl Hopkins providing the eulogy. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent from www.jones-wynn.com.
