Imogene "Jean" Durham

Mrs. Imogene “Jean” Phelps Durham, age 79, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 29, 1931 in Armuchee, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Nelson Phelps and the late Mrs. Velma Lee Headricks Phelps. She was of the Baptist Faith who enjoyed serving as a Sunday School Teacher. She retired from the Veteran Administration and Civil Defense Department after 27 years of service. She was a wonderful seamstress who enjoyed quilting and needlepoint. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Durham. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Buddy Nelson of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Michael and Sherri Mahaffey of Douglasville; sister, Eleanor Spurlin of Charlotte, NC; brother, Henry Brooks of Armuchee; 3 grandchildren, April Ann, Christina, and Katelyn; 3 great-grandchildren, Miranda, Breanna, and Christian; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Leigh Olsin officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
