Iris Fox-Smith

Mrs. Iris May Fox-Smith, age 89 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. She was born April 30, 1930 in Annotto Bay, Jamaica, W.I., the daughter of the late Mr. Louis Thompson and the late Ms. Leteria Fox. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong nurse who enjoyed gardening and artwork. She discovered her talent for painting at the age of 80. She loved reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was very kind-hearted, generous and always inspiring and encouraging others to do well. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Henry Smith and son, Dale Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by daughter, Pamela Dowe of Douglasville, Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Christine Smith, Courtney and Orleen Smith of Orlando, Florida, Gary Smith of Douglasville, Georgia, Nigel Smith and Isolyn Morgan of Douglasville, Georgia, Neil Smith, Sr. of Valdosta, Georgia, Desmond and Nadine Fox of St. Mary, Jamaica, 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Monday, September 2, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at New Jerusalem Praise and Worship Center, 4152 Midway Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Everton Ennis officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
