Mrs. Iva Rose Thompson Lassiter, 88, of Winston, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Wellstar Community Hospice at Tranquility in Austell, Georgia. She was born June 7, 1918 in Escambia County, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John Chesley âBudâ Thompson and the late Mrs. Lydia Jamaime âMimieâ Harold Thompson. Mrs. Lassiter worked as a nurse. She was a member of Christ Cathedral Church in Winston, Georgia and the First United Pentecostal Church in Niceville, Florida where she served as Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and womenâs auxiliary. Mrs. Lassiter was a member of the Red Hat Club and had been a Shaklee representative. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lassiter was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lindsey Lassiter; her brother, John Chesley Thompson; and her sisters, Sarah Thompson, Bernice Summerlin and Juanita Holladay. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, B. Charles Lassiter of Hueytown, Alabama, Harold S. and Ann Lassiter of Temple, Texas and Gene E. and Terrie Lassiter of Winston; her sister, Freida Owen; her brothers, James Rankin Thompson, Elmer Thompson and Richard Lamar Thompson; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM CST from the First United Pentecostal Church in Niceville, Florida with Rev. Ken Boller officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon Porter, Jeff Lassiter, Larry Lassiter, Ronnie Owen, Brock Lassiter and Aric Lassiter. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso, Florida. The family will be receiving friends in the First United Pentecostal Church in Niceville, Florida on Saturday, December 2, 2006 from 12:00 Noon CST until the funeral hour.
