James Alan Cooke

Mr. James Alan Cooke, 73, of Jennifer Lane, Carrollton, Georgia passed away after and extended illness Monday, December 4, 2006 at his residence. He was born April 2, 1933 in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Ralph William Cooke and the late Mrs. Nellie Huckeba Cooke. Mr. Cooke was a veteran of the United States Navy having served most of his four years on the US Navy Leyte Aircraft Carrier. He worked for General Motors Corp in auto assembly. Mr. Cooke was a member of Midway Macedonia Baptist Church in Villa Rica. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lorene Long Cooke of Carrollton; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Paul Scheffel of Woodstock; his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Patty Cooke of Marietta; his sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Billy Parson of New Mexico; his brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Janice Cooke of Carrollton, Rev. Fred and Ruth Cooke of Roopville, Michael and Janice Cooke of Carrollton, Rev. Kerry and Debbie Cooke of Carrollton; 2 grandchildren, Janis Resendiz of Marietta and Alice Marie Cooke of Marietta; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 3:00 PM from Midway Macedonia Baptist Church in Villa Rica with Rev. Todd Wright officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Parson, Joe Cooke, Dave Cooke, Rusty Cooke, Kenneth Cooke and Mitchell Otwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Cooke, Kevin Cooke, Brian Smith, Victor Otwell and Tony Crawford. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at the Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with the family present at 12:00 Noon.
