James Allen Harris

July 29, 1933 — October 17, 2006

Mr. James Allen Harris departed this earth Wednesday, October 17, 2006 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. He was Born in Washington, DC on July 29, 1933, the son of the late Mr. Dorfus Lee and the late Mrs. Bernice Harris-Martin. He attended school in the District of Columbia, until the age of 11, when he relocated to New York City. While in New York City, he attended P.S. 90 elementary, Frederick Douglas Junior High School, and Food Trade High School, where he studied culinary cooking. On September 20, 1956, he married Mary Theresa Martin in New York City, N.Y. From this Holy Union a beautiful family was born. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Theresa Harris; Three Sons: Ronald Michael Harris, Anthony Darren Harris, and Charles Tyrone Harris; Two Daughters: Lavern Jones and Karen Elaine Harris; Twelve Grandchildren, Ronald Gooding, Derrick Gooding, Christopher Gooding, Marcus Gooding, Javone Harris, Shanidre Harris, Larnise Harris, Lakesha Harris, Shawn Harris, Teleah Harris, Brianna Harris, Charles Tyrone Harris, Jr. and Nina Harris; many Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews; Special Cousins: Roland Harris, Mildred Harris, and Sylvia Harris. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 3:00 PM at the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell James officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica with the following serving as pallbearers: James Martin, Edward Sims, Derrick Goodings, Javone Harris, Anthony Ellis, and Shawn Harris. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Saturday, October 21, 2006 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour.
