James Michael Allgood

James Michael “Mike” Allgood, 77, of Temple, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1948, the son of the late Lovey Pierce Allgood and the late Ruth Golden Allgood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Eckert Allgood, to whom he married on September 18, 1971; brother, Donald Allgood.

Mike was a graduate of Andrew College, Georgia Southern College, and was employed as a Professional Boy Scout with BSA before becoming a Christmas Tree farmer and wholesale grower for landscapers.

He is survived by his children, Emily and Cullen Meyer of Florida and Seth Allgood of Temple, sister-in-law, Martha Allgood of Temple; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Patsy Allgood of Temple; grandson, Pierce Meyer; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Temple Methodist Church with interment at Asbury Cemetery.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Dale Parrish, Charles Allen Thomas, John Baxter, Dennis Allgood, Sam Allgood, Jake Saunders, Alan West, Brian Parrish, Clay Conaway, Jay Lambert and Patrick Goldin; Honorary pallbearers, Jody Allgood, Brandon Allgood, Gregory West, and Chris Thomas.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Peggy Baskin, Kim McGhee, The Ladies at the Temple Pharmacy, Phyllis Wyrick, Charlotte Armstrong, Lauren Cavender, Wayne & Stephanie Jarell, David & Linda Hudgins, Wayne & Pam Dodd, Wayne & Shirly Gant, Lorenzo Campos, Reggie Gonzalez and The Temple Methodist Church for their unwavering support & friendship.

Seth & I would like to thank the many wonderful families that have patroned Red Land Nursery over the last 48 years. We have loved meeting all of you, seeing you year after year at the tree farm, and allowing us to be part of your family's holiday tradition. We hope Mike Allgood's tree farm brought you incredible joy and memories to last a lifetime. Thank you for blessing our family with your support and friendship through the years.
