James "Jimmy” Henry Bone, 84, of Villa Rica, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1940, the son of the late James Hugh Bone and the late Louvie Elizabeth West Bone. Jimmy made significant contributions to both the legal profession and the youth in his community throughout his life.
He was a dedicated family man who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren fiercely. He began his career as a radio operator for the Georgia State Patrol and worked for them while he was a law student. A proud alumnus of Georgia State University and Emory Law School, he earned his Juris Doctorate degree and practiced law for many years, earning a reputation as an exceptional attorney renowned for his unwavering commitment to his clients and the legal system. After practicing law for several years, he was appointed as the US Standing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Northern District of Georgia. His legal career was complemented by his role as a part-owner of WLBB radio station in Carrollton, through which he engaged with the community in a unique and influential manner. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and he served on the National Board of Trustees for the NACTT.
Jimmy's dedication extended beyond his professional life; he was a true American Patriot and a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country as a military intelligence officer in Inch'on, South Korea. Initially aiming to pursue a career as a pilot, Jimmy adapted to his circumstances when diagnosed with an inner ear disorder. His military service instilled in him patriotism that remained a significant part of his identity.
In addition to his professional and military endeavors, Jimmy was deeply involved in his community. As a coach for little league baseball and a mentor to numerous young individuals over the years, he was a steadfast advocate for youth development. A fervent supporter of local sports, he was known as a big fan of Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Braves, tracing his loyalty back to the days of the Atlanta Crackers. His enthusiasm for racing and NASCAR further showcased his passion for sports and competition.
Jimmy was not only a sports enthusiast but also a dedicated church member at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, where he served as a Junior deacon before being ordained as a Deacon. His commitment to education and athletics was reflected in his active participation in the West Georgia College Booster Club and his instrumental role in establishing the West Georgia College football program. He enjoyed notable recognition as the announcer during the college's 1974 NAIA Basketball National Championship Season. He also announced for multiple Villa Rica High School and West Georgia College football games.
Throughout his life, Jimmy held a particular affection for the Villa Rica High School Football Program and lent his expertise as an advisor for the Bremen High School Mock Trial Team, fostering excellence in the next generation of leaders.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ted Bone; niece Dr. Tracy Bone Maloney.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Graben Bone; children, Susan (Nick) Pullen of Villa Rica and Ben (Stephanie) Bone of Grayson, Georgia; sister, Peggy (Don) Day of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Jack Pullen, Sam Pullen, Lily Pullen, Mackenzie Bone and Maddux Bone; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. He will lie in state from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at First Baptist Church Villa Rica. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
Flowers are accepted: however, contributions can be made to the Carroll County Veterans Park in memory of James H. "Jimmy" Bone.
In remembrance of Jimmy, the community honors his legacy of service, mentorship, and unwavering support for both the legal field and youth programs. His impact will be felt by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
