Mr. James âJimâ Lewis Burton, age 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. He was born August 13, 1945, the son of the late Mr. George Washington Burton and the late Mrs. Hortense L. Oestreich Burton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict and two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He worked as a Superintendent for Couey Properties. He was a Christian by faith. Mr. Burton was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved being a card shark, playing pool, and bowling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Pate Burton; sister, Frances Pate and brother, Bob Burton. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Dr. Amanda Burton of Hiram; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Debbie Burton of Millville, CA; two grandchildren, Madison Burton and Taylor Burton; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. Wayne Bray officiating.
