James Means Cole

James Means Cole, 96, of Villa Rica, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1928, the son of the late Oliver Jones Cole and the late Sarah Ruth Hamlin Cole.

James was a proud US Airforce veteran and he was very dedicated to his job. He loved his wife, Betty very much and they enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney World. He also had a dog name Mingus, who he adored.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gwendolyn McMichen; daughter, Lori Core; siblings, Allen Cole, Irene Cole Kitchens, Mildred Cole Conkle, Robert Cole and Homer Cole.

He is survived by his children, Leslie (Darwin) Brook of Lithia Springs, Reid Cole of Trenton, GA, and Daniel Cole of Canton, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Cole of Warner Robbins, GA, Barbara Thompson of Sykesville, MD; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. The family will have a visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Inurnment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
